Effective noon December 25, St. John’s moved to a modified version of Red stage of our diocesan In This Together pandemic plan for the foreseeable future.  The church building and office are closed, and liturgies are offered on-line.  The most up to date details of the pandemic plan are available here:   Sunday worship will be available live at 9am Sundays via our Facebook page, YouTube Channel and website, (and remains availalbe after the livestream so you can participate at a time that is convenient for you) and is broadcast on Cogeco Cable YourTV the following Sunday at 8am & 1pm.  Compline continues to be live streamed at 9pm daily on our Facebook page.  The rapid rise of the Omicron variant has created uncertainty and fear.  As predicted, a lot of information has been issued in rapid succession and it can be confusing and exhausting.  We are being proactive as a church in caring for one another and modelling public health recommendations by implementing these restrictions now, rather than waiting.   Please be kind and gentle with yourself as you experience the range of emotions from frustration to fear to anxiety to loss.  You deserve a pat on the back for managing so well throughout these past months. And if you feel powerless or don’t know what to do, please pray: pray for yourself, and pray for others.  When we pray for others, it helps ease the burden of anxiety within us.  When we pray for ourselves, it reminds us that we are in a deep and trusted relationship with God, from whom no secrets are hidden.  God is good, and God is present with us amidst all of this upheaval and uncertainty.   In the words of the psalmist “I wait for the Lord, my soul waits for him * in his word is my hope.” (Psalm 130.4).  Jesus was born into a world of uncertainty and upheaval, bringing a message of unconditional love and hope.  That is what we are celebrating this season.  So let us wait for him.  Let us wait with love, peace and joy. If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact Canon Catherine at (613) 859-4962 or  Also, members of our pastoral care team are available should you need a friendly voice or a listening ear.   All shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Our next Community Dinner on Delivery will be on Sun Jan 16.  If you are able to help with meal prep in the days leading up to the weekend, please contact Virginia Willis at  If you are able to help deliver the afternoon of Jan 16, please contact Canon Catherine at
